September 21st Show: Integrating Waldorf

Today's show focused on integrating Waldorf.  Most people have a stereotypical purist in mind when they set their Waldorf standard.  On today's show, I worked to help you overcome that standard by talking about what the heart of Waldorf is and how you can make it work no matter where you are on the journey or your circumstances.

I shared this verse by Elsa Beskow, from her book "Around the Year":

"Dear apple on your branch
please fall into my hat
for if I take you off the tree,
they'll not be pleased with that!"

Thank you for joining us for our first show broadcast at our new home at Blog Talk Radio.  As promised, here are the verses we shared on the air:

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;

Also we shared our morning verse that we start school off with each day:

There lives in me an image
of all God wants for me
until I have become it
my heart can not be free.

This is a Steiner verse that has taken on many forms in our home over the years, words changed to fit our needs.

This will be the last show until September 7th.  We are soaking up the last of the rays on this end - dipping our toes in the lake and river as much as we can for a couple more weeks before we get to our regular rhythm.

Recent shows

We've got two shows available for you this week in our store.  This week's show is the first in a series of planning shows and the other is a show from June on handwork.  

Grade 6 part 1 and Chapter 3 for "Rhythms of Learning"

Did you miss our show today?  It was a full show over two hours.  I decided half way through the show that we needed to split grade 6 into three parts.  This is part one - we covered language arts and geography for grade six. We also covered the first portion of chapter 3 for "Rhythms of Learning" - the chapter covers the kindergarten years.  BIG stuff!  Great information for families with children of all ages.  I always try to speak to mom as much as the grade she's teaching.  To download this show visit our store.

Next Monday, we plan to discuss the social studies and history portion of grade 6  AND we will finish up chapter 3 of the book study "Rhythms of Learning".

Grade 5 part 2, Gratitude and Love

The following show is part two of the grade five discussion.  This installment also has the last half of chapter two for the book study on "Rhythms of Learning".  We focused on Steiner's thoughts of teaching gratitude and there is a great lecture in this section of the book titled 'Gratitude, Love and Duty' from April 20, 1923.  This show is available in our store.

This is tough - often we find ourselves with children who are not practicing gratitude and Steiner really drives home that for the young child it has to be modeled - so mamas... how is your level of gratitude?  What are you cultivating in your home?
